Letter From Our Chapter President:
Dear Friends,
The sisters of Alpha Sigma Alpha are happy to welcome you to the Zeta Tau chapter at Grand Valley State University! My name is Alyssa Werner and I am currently the Collegiate President. I am pleased to welcome you to our page that is continuously improving and growing to be the most informational for you as possible. We are a sorority built on values and aims and hold ourselves to a high standard. We are women committed to “fostering close friendships between members and developing women of poise and purpose.”
Joining Alpha Sigma Alpha is a life-long commitment of friendship, service, sisterhood, and support. Belonging to our sisterhood will provide you with numerous opportunities from academic programs and support, community and philanthropy services, as well as a close-knit sisterhood that truly is one of a kind. Our members are encouraged to be involved in other activities around the Grand Valley campus as well as in our surrounding community. We also proudly support our two national philanthropies, Special Olympics and the S. June Smith Center, as well as our local philanthropy, Comprehensive Therapy Center. We support our philanthropies by raising awareness through many events and programs including our annual Alpha Week and the Spread the Word to End the Word Campaign.
Along with being dedicated to our philanthropies and building friendships between members, we also know how to have fun. We have sisterhood retreats, socials with other Greek and non-Greek organizations, and even an annual formal to celebrate all of our accomplishments throughout the year.
Alpha Sigma Alpha has provided me with a support system and the most unique experience that I ever could have asked for during my collegiate years. I have learned so much about myself and my sisters, helped me become more confident and independent, and has strengthened and positively affected the woman I am today. It has provided me with opportunities to lead, to serve, and to make a difference. Alpha Sigma Alpha truly is an organization that offers opportunities and benefits to all of our members and I cannot be more proud to lead such amazing women that exemplify our eight core values of GENEROSITY-ENJOYMENT-RESPONSIBILITY-RELATIONSHIPS-LEARNING-BALANCE-GROWTH and INTEGRITY.
